I distrust those people who know so well what God wants them to do, because I notice it always coincides with their own desires.
— Susan B. Anthony

Susan B. Anthony’s bad ass drafted the first version of the 19th Amendment in 1878. She did not live to see it ratified, and did not expect to in her lifetime. But still, she fought. Her dedication to the betterment of the world, knowing that she herself would never reap what she had sown, is absolutely inspiring.

Susan dedicated her entire life to fighting for equality, starting at the age of 17 by collecting anti-slavery petitions. She either founded or played a key role in a ton of amazing groups…The Women’s Loyal National League, the New York Women's State Temperance Society, the American Equal Rights Association, and the National Woman Suffrage Association, to name a few.

Though she was respected in her later years (even celebrating her 80th birthday at the White House), she put up with much crap at first. When fighting for a woman’s right to land ownership and control of her own earned money, she was accused of trying to destroy the institution of marriage. All that dangerous independence, free will, and whatnot. Never one to let the bastards wear her down, Susan kept on keepin’ on. She was arrested for voting before it was legal for a woman to do so, and not only refused to pay the $100 fine, but also refused to pay fare for the ride to the station. Apparently the cop didn’t feel right about stuffing a non-violent woman in the back of the paddy wagon. Under the current leadership I assume she’d be tear gassed, but back then I guess there was a stronger moral fiber.

They even made it right by putting her bad ass on a coin.

Thank you, Susan B. Anthony.

p.s. She told me to tell you to VOTE!
